We know all too well how long winter can be. The cold months of being tucked inside when it is frigid and the wind is howling . When it is too cold to go out and play and you can’t look at another playdoh cookie or hot wheels ramp, it is time for a family outing! Here are some of the go-to places for my family that I think you will love too!

  • Fun Republic This place is awesome!!! They have huge bouncy houses with slides, an obstacle course you can crawl through and a new water splash area. No, you don’t need to bring your swimsuits, think of it as an extremely awesome water table! There is even a safe padded area for toddlers with soft blocks to crawl around and over bridges. Last, but certainly not least, there is a whole town where your kids can run and make believe till their heart’s content. Does your child want to be a mailman, a police officer, a firefighter, a vet or simply lounge in the play cafe? Wherever their imagination takes them, Fun Republic has them covered!
  • The Lego store. This is different than LegoLand which is also an awesome fun day out. The Lego store is a lego lovers dream! Legos and legos galore waiting to be played with. You could bring your kids to the Lego store for a fun time of just building and not spend a penny! And as an added bonus, you won’t be stepping on legos for days to come! They also have ‘free build days’ where you can build and take what you make home totally free! A win-win if you ask me!
  • Does your child love to swim? Winter is not the easiest time to give you child some time in the pool, unless you head to the Vaughan Aquatic Center. This is a child’s dream come true. It is an indoor water park with many interactive water features such as geysers and a huge dumping bucket. What child doesn’t love a huge bucket of water dumped on their head?! It also has a zero depth entry and a variety of slides depending of how adventurous you may be feeling that day.
  • Does your child have a ton of energy? Do they like to climb and run and jump? Do they long to be a Ninja Warrior? Well, they can be, at Ultimate Ninjas. There are multiple locations, hopefully one near you! You reserve a time slot of an hour or 2 and show up ready to run some of the same obstacles seen on T.V! This is a place not to be missed!
  • “Watch me bounce!” is what you will hear when you take your child to a trampoline park. The one we have been to is called Epic Air. It is amazing! The kids bounce and jump until they can’t bounce anymore! You can even do tricks off a trampoline into a huge pit of foam cubes! When your child needs a break from jumping but not from fun, head over to the ball blaster area. You can climb through mazes and obstacles and of course blast tons of foam balls out of one of the eight cannon blasters! The kids will be so tired out after a trip here that you are sure to have a quiet ride home.
  • If you would like a totally free few hours of fun, (unless you want to do a bit of shopping!) head to your local indoor mall. Many malls have places for kids to climb and crawl or run. This will help the kids get out that stored up energy. You could also head to a McDonalds near you and play in their play place. My kids love to do this! They can climb on that play structure for the longest time.
  • A fun activity for all ages is bowling! Head to a bowling alley near you and hear your kids cheer and laugh as they strike down the pins. If you make it bumper bowling, even the smallest of tykes can enjoy some fun family time!
  • Cruising around an indoor roller rink is a fantastic way to make memories and burn off a ton of energy! A few hours at your local roller rink will result in lots of laughter, many, many smiles and kids asking when they can go back!
